Take the Galzigbahn and then the Vallugabahn to 2,646 metres. From there, you set off on the Arlberg via ferrata. The route with a difficulty rating of C/D leads from over 2,752 metres, covering around 400 metres in altitude. After a 30-minute approach, you should allow around 5 hours for the entire walking and climbing time. The descent takes around 1.5 hours via the Weißschrofenspitze to the Kapallbahn. From there, you can take the Kapallbahn and then the Gampenbahn back down into the valley to St. Anton.

Difficulty & requirements

The Arlberg via ferrata requires extensive experience, a complete absence of vertigo and excellent fitness levels. Complete via ferrata equipment including a harness, via ferrata set, helmet, gloves and sturdy mountain boots is absolutely essential. Please also note that patches of old snow may remain on the approach route until late summer. The 2,752-metre route runs continuously along steel cables and leads over the ridge during a thrilling climb.

Important: even experienced mountaineers should only attempt the Arlberg via ferrata in optimal weather conditions.
