The White Ring
In winter, The Green Ring transforms into The White Ring, the most legendary ski circuit in the Alps.
The Green Ring is a freely customisable hiking tour around Lech Zürs am Arlberg. Through the terrain of the legendary ski circuit The White Ring, it leads through impressive mountain worlds – past glittering lakes, mystical forests and artfully staged legend stations.
More than just a hiking trail: The Green Ring in Lech Zürs combines fresh mountain air, sweeping panoramas, and moments of stillness with surprising encounters drawn from art and legend. For 15 years, it has inspired guests to move, be mindful, and slow down. It offers a perfect symbiosis of nature experience, imagination, and contemporary wellness culture.
The Green Ring is easily customisable. The summer cable cars in Lech Zürs make it possible to comfortably reach individual sections via the cable cars. This makes The Green Ring accessible to everyone – from families with children to seasoned mountain enthusiasts who may wish to explore only parts of the trail.

All stages of The Green Ring can be hiked in either direction – offering an equally impressive experience, no matter how the route is chosen.
Even the start of The Green Ring with the Rüfikopfbahn cable car reveals a breathtaking panorama of the Arlberg mountains. At the top, numerous highlights await: a viewing platform, the summit book on the Rüfikopf mountain, the Geoweg geological trail, and the Steinzeitweg trail – all recounting fascinating stories from times long past. Those needing a break can enjoy great food with sweeping views at the Rüfikopf panorama restaurant. Along the way, the shimmering Monzabon lake and the charming Mountain Hut Library invite you to linger in peace and quiet. From there, the path reaches the watershed above Zürs, where nature decides whether the water flows to the North Sea or the Black Sea.
The turquoise Zürsersee forms the heart of this stage and is a favourite photo stop for hikers, offering fantastic views, a mountain restaurant, a barbecue station and even a bathing jetty. The Seekopf mountain restaurant with its sun terrace is the perfect place to pause and enjoy. This part of the trail blends geological highlights with Alpine legends, where giants carved into the rock face tell stories from a distant past. The climb to Madloch, the highest point of The Green Ring, is rewarded with sweeping views across the peaks of the Arlberg.
Here, the mythical tales of the Arlberg come to life: figures and plaques in the Forest of Legends turn the hike into a fascinating journey of discovery. The climb to the Kriegerhorn mountain rewards hikers with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama – one of the most spectacular views in Lech Zürs. Along the way, inviting stops for refreshments await, from the architecturally striking Balmalp to the traditional Rud-Alpe, where regional cuisine can be enjoyed in a cosy Alpine setting.
