From Lech to the Rüfikopf mountain and via the Monzabonsee lake down to Zürs

First stage

Even the start of The Green Ring with the Rüfikopfbahn cable car reveals a breathtaking panorama of the Arlberg mountains. At the top, numerous highlights await: a viewing platform, the summit book on the Rüfikopf mountain, the Geoweg geological trail, and the Steinzeitweg trail – all recounting fascinating stories from times long past. Those needing a break can enjoy great food with sweeping views at the Rüfikopf panorama restaurant. Along the way, the shimmering Monzabon lake and the charming Mountain Hut Library invite you to linger in peace and quiet. From there, the path reaches the watershed above Zürs, where nature decides whether the water flows to the North Sea or the Black Sea.

From Zürs via Zürsersee lake and the Madloch to Zug

Second stage

The turquoise Zürsersee forms the heart of this stage and is a favourite photo stop for hikers, offering fantastic views, a mountain restaurant, a barbecue station and even a bathing jetty. The Seekopf mountain restaurant with its sun terrace is the perfect place to pause and enjoy. This part of the trail blends geological highlights with Alpine legends, where giants carved into the rock face tell stories from a distant past. The climb to Madloch, the highest point of The Green Ring, is rewarded with sweeping views across the peaks of the Arlberg.

The final stage leads from Zug through the mystical Sagenwald forest up to the Kriegerhorn, before descending via Oberlech back to Lech.

Third stage

Here, the mythical tales of the Arlberg come to life: figures and plaques in the Forest of Legends turn the hike into a fascinating journey of discovery. The climb to the Kriegerhorn mountain rewards hikers with a breathtaking 360-degree panorama – one of the most spectacular views in Lech Zürs. Along the way, inviting stops for refreshments await, from the architecturally striking Balmalp to the traditional Rud-Alpe, where regional cuisine can be enjoyed in a cosy Alpine setting.

Arlenzauberweg trail More than 20 stations between the Rud-Alpe mountain restaurant and the Libellensee lake invite you to stop, explore and discover. Young and old alike can learn fascinating facts about animals, plants and the natural world along the way.
